The new regulation was introduced in the aftermath of the Germanwings Flight 9525 and is now due to be implemented in early 2021 after a 6 month delay due to COVID19.

The new regulation covers Psychological Assessment, Alcohol Testing, and Support Programmes. Operators must have processes in place in order to cover all three elements to be fully compliant. This webinar will take each element in turn with presentations from subject matter authorities on each topic along with a Q&A session. The round table discussion bring the panel of experts back together to further discuss the regulation in detail.

Marc is a UK Chartered Occupational Psychologist and a European Registered Aviation Psychologist. His background covers both civil and military aviation in the areas of assessment, training, simulation and organisational change. His practice focus currently is on two key areas in civil aviation – Psychological Assessment and Mental Wellbeing.
Marc founded and Chairs the Royal Aeronautical annual Aircrew Mental Health and Wellbeing conference, established in the aftermath of the GermanWings tragedy, and is Chair of the Royal Aeronautical Society Human Factors Wellbeing Group. In early 2020 he was one of the principal authors of the Flight Safety Foundation publication ‘An Aviation Professionals' Guide to Wellbeing' and is currently contributing to an EASA led activity collating a listing of organisations and resources relating to wellbeing that can be drawn on by individuals and organisations in the industry.

David's career has spanned 20 years in Aviation, initially undertaking an apprenticeship in helicopter engineering in the Army. David went on to work for major airlines across Europe. After a number of years in commercial aviation David took his commercial experience back to military aviation to support U.K. Attack Helicopter flying operations. David moved from mending aircraft to making aircraft leading the production of doors for the A380 super jumbo and then to a large aircraft engine manufacturer where he led the company response to a major safety issue.
In later years, David has built two business into prominent aerospace manufacturers and is now using his experience from a highly regulated industry to make small changes to the largely unregulated industry of workplace drugs and alcohol testing.
David also works as Non-Executive director for the Midlands Aerospace Alliance, holds Bachelors in Engineering and an MBA from the Open University.
Karen Moore is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist who has spent over 30 years designing and running assessment processes, joining Symbiotics as Principal Occupational Psychologist in 2017.
Karen has been liaising with the UKCAA and the British Psychological Society to help establish a recognised resource for AOCs to meet the regulatory requirement to involve suitably qualified psychologists in the implementation of their solutions for CAT. GEN.MPA.175.
As a holder of the BPS certificate Specialist in Test Use: Occupational, Karen has a strong interest in the appropriate application of psychometrics in assessment and development and has explored the use of a variety of measures in different situations. She brings this passion to the psychological profiling of pilots, hoping to ensure that any assessments are thorough, reliable and valid whilst being as unintrusive and cost effective as possible.

Aedrian leads a team of psychologists and consultants that have designed and delivered award winning psychological interventions that have been credited for their innovation, integrity and user engagement. In British Airways for example, this includes working with over 5000+ flight & cabin crew, engineers and managers in various leadership developments initiatives.
Having co-founded the Centre for Aviation Psychology with Prof Rob Bor, Aedrian has developed an industry leading expertise in implementing and operating pilot peer support programmes. He has achieved this in over 16+ AOCs, supporting 20 000+ pilots in 8 languages and multiple countries.
During the Covid-19 crisis, Aedrian has spoken extensively on the topic of mental well being in aviation professions and addressed audiences in airlines, airports, ground operators, insurers, NAAs and EASA. He has also edited several articles and resources in response to the pandemic.
