2024: A Landmark Year for Symbiotics

As we reflect on 2024, it has been another remarkable year for Symbiotics. Our team participated in or exhibited at 15 events worldwide, connecting with new faces, strengthening relationships with industry colleagues and sharing memorable moments with familiar friends.

This year, we welcomed a diverse range of new clients from around the world, training the highest number of client personnel to date in the use of ADAPT.

2024 also marked a period of growth for our team. We were delighted to welcome three talented individuals: Heide Stanley, Account Manager; Amy-Jade (AJ) Hambrey, Marketing Executive; and James Hoad, Head of Sales. Our growth continues as we recruit an additional five team members for 2025.

A Year of Successful Events

From India to Las Vegas, Singapore to Portugal, 2024 saw Symbiotics engage with the global aviation community in unprecedented ways. These events provided invaluable opportunities to connect with newly qualified pilots and cadets, as well as collaborate with flight schools, airlines, and aviation organisations to address their needs.

We were especially proud of our team members, Aleksandra Kapela (Associate Aviation Psychologist) and Caroline Creane (Psychology Consultant), who delivered insightful presentations on key industry topics, enhancing Symbiotics' reputation as a thought leader in the field.

Below is a summary of some key events we attended:

Flight School Association of North America (FSANA)

FSANA stand

One of the first events of the year, hosted in the vibrant Las Vegas!

The IAAC workshop and FSANA event provided an excellent opportunity to introduce ourselves in an intimate setting, fostering meaningful relationships with American clients.

Associate Aviation Psychologist Aleksandra Kapela participated in a panel discussion on 'Talent Management and Human Behaviour,' which addressed best practices for managing flight instructors and staff, psychometric testing, and reducing mental health risks. This discussion was well-received.

Pilot Expo

Pilot Expo stand

Our trip to Pilot Expo in Berlin was a great success. Caroline captivated the audience on the Future Pilot Stage with her presentation, "High Performance Starts Now: Demonstrating Your True Capability from Ab Initio to Airline Selection."

This event also marked a milestone for Heide and Anca, who attended their first industry events. We had engaging conversations with cadets and newly qualified pilots, strengthening our connections within the aviation community.

World Aviation Training Summit (WATS)

WATS stand

WATS, held in Florida this year at Rosen Shingle Creek, is an event we always enjoy. Richard, Shanthi, Aleksandra, and Caroline represented Symbiotics and had a productive experience. Aleksandra presented alongside Cedric Paillard from The Airline Pilot Club on "AI and Psychometrics in Pilot Selection & Recruitment: A Collaborative Model for Sustaining Quality Pilot Supply."

Asia Pacific Aviation Training Summit (APATS)

APATS stand

APATS was a highlight this year, with the team traveling to Singapore once again. Aleksandra delivered a presentation on "The Role of Psychometric Screening in Safeguarding Gen Z Pilots/Cabin Crew's Mental Wellness." This generated excellent discussions and connections with professionals from around the globe, emphasising the importance of assessments and wellbeing in the aviation industry.

European Aviation Training Summit (EATS)

EATS stand

Our final event of 2024 took place in the picturesque city of Cascais, Portugal, and was a fitting conclusion to an extraordinary year.

With a fresh stand design and an enthusiastic team, the energy at the event was exceptional. Numerous new client connections were established, and familiar faces were warmly greeted, creating a memorable close to the year.

2024 Achievements

Our development team accomplished much to be proud of this year, including migrating our ADAPT platform to a new system, integrating with new test providers for English language assessments, implementing new test content styles, and building multiple features across ADAPT. By year-end, almost 145,000 tests had been launched, with Cognitive being the most popular individual test.

Our Psychology team were also very busy this year. Highlights include:

  • Delivering research-driven talks, including data analysis on Gen Z preferences.
  • Supporting new clients through job analysis, competency frameworks, and structured interview systems.
  • Tailoring assessments to client needs with bespoke report outputs.
  • Empowering clients with competency-based interview training.

Special congratulations to Emma Akhurst for earning her EuroPsy certification and to Caroline Creane for becoming EAAP-accredited as an Aviation Psychologist.

As we close 2024, we extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who engaged with us throughout the year. We eagerly anticipate 2025 and remain committed to supporting the aviation industry with best-in-class psychometric assessments.
